Long ago, in a kingdom surrounded by dark, whispering forests, there lived a tribe of goblins. Unlike the cruel creatures from other tales, these goblins were mischievous but not evil. They loved playing tricks on travelers, hiding their belongings or leading them in circles with glowing mushrooms. Still, they never harmed anyone—they just enjoyed the chaos.
The goblins’ greatest treasure was the Moonstone, a glowing rock that lit their underground tunnels. It was said the stone held ancient magic, but no one knew how to use it. The goblins guarded it fiercely, though they didn’t understand its power. One night, a curious young girl named Elara wandered into their forest, drawn by the stories of the mysterious stone.
Elara was clever and kind. When the goblins tried to trick her, she laughed and played along. Impressed, the goblin chief decided to test her. "If you can solve our three riddles," he said, "we’ll show you the Moonstone." Elara agreed, and with quick thinking, she answered each riddle correctly. The goblins cheered—no human had ever passed their test!
As a reward, they led her to the Moonstone. To everyone’s surprise, the stone glowed brighter in Elara’s hands. The chief gasped. "You’re the one the legends spoke of!" he exclaimed. The stone’s magic awoke, healing the withered plants in the forest and driving away the shadows that had plagued the land.
From that day on, Elara visited the goblins often, and they became protectors of the forest together. The once-dark woods flourished, and travelers no longer feared getting lost. And though the goblins still played their tricks, they did so with a little more kindness—thanks to the girl who understood their hearts.
